A referee, not a shop

Most skincare rankings are built backwards. A list is drawn up from what is available to link to, the copy is written to fit, and the criteria appear afterwards to justify the order. This site inverts that. The rubric is fixed and published before the products are scored, the numbers are computed by the site from label facts rather than typed by an editor, and any figure the label cannot support is printed as not computable.

The result is less flattering to brands than the usual roundup. Plenty of well marketed products do not publish a concentration, and on this site that costs them a quarter of the available score. That is the intended outcome. A number you cannot check is a number you should not weigh.

Corrections and questions

If a label fact here is wrong, it is worth telling us, and the correction goes on the page rather than being quietly swapped in. Records carry the date they were checked so a reader can see how old the figure they are reading is.
